remote personal trainer

Online personal training isn’t about watching pre-recorded videos or following a template programme that’s emailed over and left to gather dust. This is live 1-1 personal training, just online. Same PT, same accountability, still pushing your beliefs and still seeing your shape change before your eyes.

If you live outside the local area, work away a lot or simply prefer to train at home, I can be your remote personal trainer. Sessions run over live video, so I can watch your form and correct it in real time, exactly as I would in the gym.

It’s a growing part of what I do, but I keep it personal rather than scaling it into a mass programme. You’ll always be working with me directly.

Online personal training is for you if…
  • You’re not based near Mortimer Common, Reading, or you travel frequently for work.
  • You want to train from home but don’t want a generic downloaded plan and know you need accountability.
  • You’re genuinely committed to putting in the work. Online training still asks the same of you as in-person.
This probably isn’t for you if…
  • You want in-person, hands-on coaching and you’re local. 1-1 in-person training will suit you better.
  • You’re after a one-off programme with no ongoing check-ins. This is a coached long-term investment in your health and fitness, not a download.

Steve’s been my PT for 3yrs now and the results have been great. Would definitely recommend him to anyone wanting to improve their fitness, strength and general well being, no matter what state of athletic ability they are. He’ll work to ensure your plan is truly bespoke. The cost is also very reasonable and the investment is certainly worth it.

“It’s a situation I see often Chris, and you’re not on your own.” These are the first words in Steve’s reply to my WhatsApp for arranging a consultation with him. I had done very little in terms of exercise for 10 years, and I wanted to be healthier and fitter before going into retirement. Had a very frank and sincere chat with Steve, he listened, and agreed my objective of getting fitter as the main driver, with the side benefit of losing “some timber”. Since we started, I’ve very rarely done the same exercise twice, and commenced the first session in July. Just over 2 months in I have lost weight, seen a change in body-shape, and have more energy. This is proper one-to-one training in a private gym. Steve listens to you and knows the difference between what you think you can do and what your body can do. He isn’t going to make you a hot chocolate and read you a bedtime story, no, but he will look after you and encourage you. A very good man to have in your corner to work towards the objectives you want to achieve. We also have a good laugh!

Steve was recommended to me by a friend and I have been doing PT with him for over a year and a half now. Being over 50, my initial reasons to take up PT were to maintain muscle tone, retain flexibility and to address a weak back. Prior to this I hadn’t spent much time in gyms and didn’t consider myself ever becoming a regular gym attendee. Steve has been excellent with his prescribed workouts and training, he clearly has a great understanding of human physiology and the workouts of the different muscle groups (and the same groups) continually vary which keep things interesting. He is a great coach and a highly motivated individual who I would wholeheartedly recommend; I now have a stronger back and confidence to lift weights I never felt possible which has also improved my overall posture. His focus on correct technique also means I have great confidence in his training and its never dull!

I have been working with Steve ( totally smash it) as my PT for 8 years, we have build a great professional relationship. Every session is different he steps me out of my comfort zone constantly and helped me become so much stronger and fitter. He helped me get though a second heart operation 3 years ago and my recovery was so much quicker because of the work we but in before it and then after rebuilding my strength and fitness levels. Steve also makes the sessions Fun and I’d think there was something missing if I didn’t wake up with aching muscles. I trust him and his training methods and that’s why I’m still training with him after 8 years he gets results but in an encouraging, tough and fun way!

Steve has been life changing. I was terrified at the beginning of my PT journey. He is supportive yet challenging and his skill is knowing exactly where that balance exists to get the best results. I can’t always say the sessions are enjoyable (secretly they are 😊), but I can absolutely say they make a difference and having a laugh whilst we do it is always a pleasure. Thanks Steve

I’ve been training with Steve for many years - every session is different so I never get bored! I went to help keep my strength as I age and I’m so much stronger now than before - I can’t recommend Steve enough

FAQ’s

Do I need gym equipment at home for online training?

No. Programmes are built around whatever you’ve got, whether that’s a fully-kitted home gym, a few kettlebells, resistance bands, or just your own bodyweight. A workout can be genuinely challenging with a single 6kg kettlebell, used properly.

How do online sessions actually work?

Sessions run over live video, so Steve can see you train in real time and correct your form as you go. It’s the same coaching you’d get in the gym, just delivered remotely. Programmes and check-ins are managed through the Totally Smashed It app.

Is online training as effective as training in person?

The coaching, accountability and programme design are the same. What changes is the delivery. Results are determined by consistency and effort on your side, exactly as they would be in person.

Can you still help with nutrition if we’re not training in the same room?

Yes. Nutrition support works the same way as in-person. You share what you’re eating and get honest, practical feedback, rather than a rigid meal plan to follow.

I travel a lot for work; can online training fit around that?

That’s exactly who online training is built for. Sessions and check-ins can flex around a travel schedule far more easily than fixed in-person appointments.

How many sessions a week do I need?

This depends on your goals and how much time you can realistically commit. It’s agreed together as part of your consultation, not set as a fixed package.

Is online training cheaper than in-person?

Pricing depends on your goals and session frequency rather than the delivery method. I charge £50 per hour. And I bring the same energy, encouragement, expertise, experience and support.

Can I move between online and in-person training later?

Yes. If your circumstances change, for example you relocate closer to Mortimer Common or your travel schedule settles down, we can talk through moving into in-person 1-1 training.
